Yam Dwar is the best vantage point that provides a splendid closest view of south & west faces of mount Kailash. We will take the entire group up to Tarboche; later on, those who will not take part in parikrama will return to Darchen by the same vehicle and wait there for those who are taking parikrama course.

Others, who want to continue their journey ahead will start parikrama from this point. Yam Dwar (Tarboche) is the point where you will get a horse to ride if you have booked for parikrama, but it should be pre-booked in Manasarovar one day ahead with your Tibetan guide. The first day’s parikrama is about 10 km and it takes about 5 to 7 hours to cover this distance.

NOTE:
Members, who are not taking part in trekking, have to stay back in Darchen and wait for those who have gone for full parikrama. When members return from parikrama, we will start our return journey together. ‘ENTRY TOGETHER AND EXIT TOGETHER’ is the mandatory rule of Chinese. If you want to return early, you have to pay extra from your pocket against the separate transport and visa splitting charge.

- Tarboche (Yama Dwar) to Deraphuk: 10 km | 5 to 7 hours walk (approx.).
- Elevation of Deraphuk: 4920 m. | 16138 fts.

Today is the toughest & longest journey of this trip. We have to trek almost 22 km through rugged highland to reach Zutulphuk. Literally, we have to pack up our gear and set off from the hotel at 5 a.m. Chinese time. Initially, it is an uphill trek from Diraphuk but after walking for an hour or so, the trail turns into a mild ascend. Half of the trail passes through an elevation of 4900 m./16,000 ft. or above, so there is no wonder if we suffer from breathlessness or headache. Though, we should try to keep our pace slow & steady.

Please do not forget to carry a water bottle, down jacket, raincoat and some dry fruits & chocolates with you. Everybody has a different pace of walking. People might not be around when you are with them. So, you have to be self-dependent in basic things.

After making an uphill trek for about 4 hours or so, we will reach a high pass where we will find Tibetan prayer flags fluttering. This is called ‘Dolma La pass’ (5800 m.). This is the highest point that we will be crossing over during this divine trip. After making a gentle descent from the pass, we will find ourselves near a tine glacial lake. This is ‘Gauri Kunda’.

From Gauri kunda, the trail leads us rapidly down through the area full of boulders and loose pebbles. Going down can be more difficult and painful than coming up. If we have taken a horse, we can’t even use it in this bit. After trekking down for another 1 & half hour or so from Gauri Kunda, we will eventually reach the valley floor. From this point on, the trail is easy & flat. It is another 2 hours of easy-walk to reach Zutulphuk from here.

NOTE:
Today, members who won’t be able to carry on their second day’s parikrama due to physical issues or any other issue, will return back to Darchen with our Sherpa staff. Since we have made a booking for them in Zuthulphuk for second day’s accommodation, we may not be able to provide the accommodation in the same hotel/ Guesthouses with those members who had returned from Yama Dwar. However, our effort will be to keep all our groups together which makes it easy to serve food and also it would be easy to take care of all.

- Deraphuk to Zutulphuk: 22 km | 9 hours (approx.)
- Elevation of Zuthulphuk: 4820 m. | 15810 fts.

Today is the last day of this divine circumambulation. Morning after breakfast, we pack up our gear and move on to Darchen. The entire trail is easy and flat. The trek takes about 3 hours to complete.

TREK, ZUTHULPHUK TO TREK ENDING POINT (ZONGDAU), & RETURN TO SAGA us at the final point; which is before Darchen. We board the Bus then start our journey to our destination, Saga.
- Overnight …
- Zuthulphuk to Darchen: 8 km | 3 hours walk (approx.).
- Darchen to Dzongba: 490 km | 7 hours (approx.)
- Elevation of Saga: 4460 m. | 14630 fts.

Morning after breakfast, we pack up our belongings then set off for Kyirong bridge. Today, we traverse approximately 155 km to reach Kyirong town. The another 22 km further drive will take us to the Kyirong bridge.

We will clear immigration formalities then cross into Nepal side, then drive to Syabrubesi.
- Overnight …
- Saga to Kyirong town: 155 km | 4 hours (approx.).
- Kyirong town to Kyirong bridge: 22 km | 45 minutes drive.
- Elevation of Syabru Beshi: 1450 m. | 4756 fts.

Morning after breakfast, we will proceed to Kathmandu. The drive takes about 7 hours. Evening, relax in Kathmandu.

Health
This is one of the toughest high altitude road journeys on earth. You Must be physically fit – no two ways about that. Generally patients with asthma & heart problems have a problem acclimatizing to high altitudes. In your interests it is essential you should be examined by your doctor to know about your health condition and your ability to cope up with the rigors of high altitude travel for days in ‘no road’ conditions, extreme cold, dust, trekking to an altitude of 19500ft during the Parikrama, etc.
Altitude Sickness
As you are travelling over high terrain, you are likely to experience symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness (headache, loss of appetite, nausea, exhaustion, sleeplessness, breathlessness etc.) until your body adjusts to the elevation. This can take a couple of days or more depending on an individual. For this reason alone, we have made it mandatory to stay 2 nights at Taklakot before moving on to the higher altitudes. Drink plenty of water, be calm, and do exercise. Do not drink alcohol or smoke prior to and during the tour. We also recommend you carry a strip of diamox tablets. Do consult your physician on the dosage
