Flight to Delhi. Arrival in Delhi at night, reception and assistance by our representative at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Delhi
Visit the old and the new Delhi. You will pass close to the Red Fort, symbol of Mughal power and near Chandni Chowk, old shopping streets. You will visit the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. On the way back, visit Raj Ghat, memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. You will pass the government buildings, the presidential palace and the India Gate memorial along Rajpath Avenue, the diplomatic enclave. You will visit Qutub Minar, the tallest stone tower in India and the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh Temple. Overnight at Delhi..
Departure for Mandawa, a real open-air museum, a small feudal principality in the very picturesque region of Sheikawati. The decorated façades of "haveli" tell visitors their legends. In the afternoon, walk and visit the village, where you can discover houses completely covered with frescoes depicting war legends, daily life and religious myths. Overnight at Mandawa.
You will visit Fatehpur, typical village of Rajasthan. Departure through the Thar desert to Bikaner, former princely capital of the 15th century. Installation at the hotel. In the afternoon, explore the city: Junagarth Fort and Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum. You will reach Junagarth Fort, a fortress built in the 15th century as a real eagle's nest, with a long ramp and several monumental gates. Visit the temple of Karni Mata, "temple of the rats", important place of Hindu prayers, and autorickshaw ride in the old city. Overnight at Bikaner.
Continue to the caravan city of Jaisalmer through the Thar desert. Lunch. Arrival at the end of the afternoon. This city received caravans who were traveling on the Silk Road. Dinner at the hotel: tasting of "shashi paneer", dish made of fried cheese cubes with onions, turmeric, coriander and milk. Overnight at Jaisalmer.
Continue to the caravan city of Jaisalmer through the Thar desert. Lunch. Arrival at the end of the afternoon. This city received caravans who were traveling on the Silk Road. Discover this fascinating medieval city, lost in the desert. Walk to the fortress and discover houses with finely carved facades with balconies decorated with stone lace. This city is an open air museum. Your stroll in the narrow streets will allow you to put a foot in the past. In the late afternoon, departure for the dunes to watch the sunset. Camel ride in the desert. Overnight at Jaisalmer.
Departure for Jodhpur, the "blue city". Located in the heart of the desert, this authentic city, known for its fortress that dominates the city from the top of its 125 m should be virtually impregnable in times of war, is still impressive. It dominates the landscape and houses exquisite palaces decorated with wall frescos and stone lace. Visit the beautiful Mehrangarh Fort. Then, you can go for a walk (15 min) to the market, to discover local crafts: silver jewelry, doors, paintings, leather objects, puppets, textiles ... Overnight at Jodhpur.
Departure to Udaipur. En route, visit the Jain temples of Ranakpur (with audioguide), buried in the ravine, so discreet that they escaped any looting. Their beauty is discovered inside. The 29 rooms supported by 420 white pillars are all different. Arrival in Udaipur, which is considered one of the most romantic Indian cities with its lakes, palaces and fountains. Depending on the time remaining, you will visit the beautiful garden of Sahelion Ki Bari, which is also called the "garden of the young ladies". Overnight at Udaipur.
You will visit the fortress overlooking the lake, former palace of the last maharajah of Udaipur. Discovery of Sahelion Ki Bari (if the visit was not made the day before). Continue to Pushkar, Hindu holy city dedicated to the god Brahma, famous for its camel fairs, which take place on the 8th lunar month of the Hindu calendar. Overnight at the Pushkar.
Visit Pushkar, the beautiful temple of Brahma, the only one in India dedicated to Brahma, walk around the sacred lake. Departure to Jaipur "the pink city", so called because of the color of the buildings of the old city which has the peculiarity to shelter houses built in red sand, cordial and hospitable color. Jaipur is a very lively medieval city, bustling with various bazaars (Tripolia, Bapu or Chandpole) and its Rajput inhabitants dressed in traditional clothes. Jaipur, with a festive and spicy atmosphere, is a major attraction for first-time visitors. In the afternoon, you will visit the city: the City Palace, the palace of the maharajah. Pass in front of the Hawa Mahal, "palace of the winds", then visit the observatory Jantar Mantar in the open air, to see the vast astronomical instruments. Overnight at Jaipur.
Departure for Amber. This fortified palace overlooking the small lake Maota was built in the 16th century to receive Emperor Akbar. Ascent to the fort and visit the princely buildings. You will have a spectacular view of the whole region. Lunch, then visit a pad printing workshop and wax decoration, traditional techniques of Rajasthan. Overnight at Jaipur.
You will visit Fatehpur-Sikri, the ancient ephemeral capital of the Mughal Empire. Then drive to Agra which was the seat of various Mughal emperors. Arrival in Agra and visit of the superb Red Fort, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. Then, you will discover its most famous monument: the Taj Mahal regarded as the 8th wonder of the world. After having crossed a monumental door in red sandstone, the mausoleum is offered to you. Built by the Mughal emperor Shâh Jahân for love for his deceased wife, this white marble edifice encrusted with semi-precious stones is an unforgettable sight. At dinner, tasting of "boondi ka raita" served cold. Overnight at Agra.
Free in Agra or Delhi until transfer to Delhi airport and flight back to home with sweet memoirs of land of Maharajas .
